Medical plastic molds are not only tools for producing
plastic medical products, but also endow products with complete structures and accurate dimensions. The final plastic product is obtained by injecting the molten plastic material into the mold cavity. What are the commonly used materials for injection molding of medical plastic parts?
Generally speaking, commonly used medical plastic parts are made from materials with easy processing shapes. The so called plastic is generally a generic term. Generally, plastic raw materials are divided into two categories according to their uses: the ordinary plastic and engineering plastic. The plastic raw materials commonly used in plastic mold factories generally include ABS, PP, PVC and PC. These materials have more prominent commonality, so they are loved by most companies. They mainly have the following features:
1. Most parts of molds used for manufacturing the medical plastic part are made from metal materials, and some of the structural shapes are still complicated. In order to shorten the production cycle and improve efficiency, materials used for the mold must be processed in the shape and accuracy required by the drawings.
2. The material should have high mechanical strength, strong impact resistance, and its temperature will not drop rapidly at low temperatures. The notch sensitivity and creep resistance should be good, and the temperature will not drop rapidly after it increases. The wear resistance ought to be good and the friction coefficient low.
3. The gloss and accuracy of the surface of plastic parts with good wear resistance are directly related to the wear resistance of the mold cavity surface. When glass fibers, weapon fillers and some pigments are especially added to some plastics, they flow quickly in the runner and mold cavity together with the plastic melt, and the hollow surface has great friction. If the material is not wear resistant, the mold will quickly be worn, resulting in damage to the quality of plastic parts.
4. When injection molding products with good dimensional stability, the mold cavity temperature of medical plastic parts should be above 300℃. For this reason, it is best to use appropriately tempered tool steel (heat treated steel). Otherwise, the microstructure of the material will change, and the mold size will also change.
5. The impact on heat treatment is small. In order to improve the hardness and wear resistance, it is usually necessary to heat treat the mold of the medical plastic part, but this treatment should minimize dimensional changes.
In recent years, the global medical device industry has grown by an average of about 4%, maintaining a growth rate higher than that of the national economy over the same period. The United States, Europe and Japan occupy a major position in the world's medical device market. The United States is the world's largest producer and consumer of medical devices, which is the world's largest medical device magnate.
